From The River To The Sea

Your eyes deceive you: That is NOT Trump’s felt-tipped signature on the drawing he didn’t make (below) and send off for Epstein’s 50th birthday. To be honest, it’s a pretty good drawing of our skyline.

Trump is throwing a lot of chum in the water to divert attention from the Epstein files. There may not be a “client list” but there were, for sure, clients. Trump was one of them. Shocking!

ree

AG Pam Bondi messed up big time, and is now clucking over the files that were once sitting “right on” her desk. Trump called for secret grand jury testimony to be released. A federal judge declined to do so.

Convicted and imprisoned Epstein pimp Ghislaine Maxwell is looking for a pardon, or at least commutation of 20 years in the clink with 17 to go. The number two Justice official, Trump’s onetime personal attorney, Todd Blanche, met with her on July 24th and 25th. They discussed over a hundred names.

Who did Maxwell give up? The Epstein saga is too titillating, too redolent of scandal, to tiptoe gently into the night. There are many unanswered questions. The top four are: did he die by his own hand? Was he killed? How did he make so much money? Was he a CIA asset?

A congressional subpoena may be in the works; Maxwell will sing to get out of prison. Bible thumping hypocrite, House Speaker Mike Johnson, has sent the gang home for summer recess. Washington DC, in August, is even more unbearable than when the GOP-run House sits. But when the House reconvenes, Johnson will have to come up with something else. Trump golfing in Scotland has done nothing to still the Epstein noise. The Scots are loudly and visibly unhappy to see him.

Among the Trump base rebellion is rampant. Trump has accused Obama of treason in a whacky attempt to change the subject; he also visited the Fed last week and crabbed about interest rates and the Fed’s new building cost over-run. That got zip traction because a cost over-run in DC is routine.  Powell is tough and he gave no ground.

Still, the summer nuttiness goes on:

<> Hunter Biden won’t shut up.  He was prison bound when fully pardoned by his father. He blames “disloyal Democrats” for his father’s loss and Ambien for dad’s disastrous debate performance. No cognitive dissonance, just drug-induced gaga. Hunter should know.

<> Trump is throwing millions of people off Medicaid, eradicating SNAP that helps poor kids get food. He is self-enriching, hawking his Stablecoin and hyping crypto. Many of the people getting screwed are Trump voters who don’t vote their own self-interest but his. Affluent, elitist Democrats offer them nothing. That’s why they left. He continues to MAGA-fy our struggling billionaires with lower taxes and more privilege.

<> NYT columnist Brett Stephens asserts that Israel is not committing “genocide” in Gaza because he does not like that word. Over 55,000 Gazans are dead. Call it whatever you like.

From the river to the sea, Trump is wrecking the country.
