My, Oh My

"My own morality. My own mind. It's the only thing that can stop me,” Trump opined a few days ago. That should scare the whatevers out of anyone with a pulse. The man’s immorality is legion, not to mention his carelessness with the truth, his braggadoccio. His phantasmagoric view of his world — and therefore our world — beggars the mind. U.S. commandos grabbing Nicolas Maduro and his missus from their bedroom in the January 3rd predawn is certainly worthy of the Nobel peace prize in Trump's mind.
It was offered to him by the 2025 Nobel prizewinner, Maria Corina Machado, above, Venezuela’s opposition leader. She was given the award for fighting for democracy, the one thing we can know for sure Trump has never been accused of and never will be.
Machado told Trump he could have hers. But the Nobel committee sniffed, announcing that the award is not transferable. BTW, it comes with $1 million; maybe Trump just wanted the cash. He has since dis-endorsed her as fit to govern Venezuela, asserting she “lacks support.” As if he knew. Meanwhile, she has just had an audience with the Pope.
It its generally understood that Maduro is not a nice fellow. It is also generally understood that violating the sovereignty of another nation is not cool, especially when Trump’s invasion was undertaken without prior consultation with Congress. He informed them after the fact because Trump said that Congress is a very leaky ship. Which it is.
For him, all of this is has to be a quite welcome distraction from the E-p-s-t-e-i-n saga, driven off the front pages and the telly, at least for the moment, by the ICE-goon who murdered Renee Nicole Good. This killing is everything that is wrong with the Trump’s wannabe dictatorship. Trump & Vance are stretching themselves silly, determined to besmirch her.
1,101 days remain in Trump’s term as of 14 January 2026 barring death, disease, dementia -- or the 25th Amendment.
