The Muskrat Ramble !

Not to be confused with Kid Ory’s great composition made famous by Louis Armstrong and others, today’s Muskrat Ramble is Herr Musk’s brutal attack on our democracy and especially on federal workers.

Egged on by Trump, Musk is detested by at least a few of the Cabinet secretaries. The White House is increasingly chaotic; Herr  Musk’s SS Youth wreak havoc and spread fear throughout the executive branch. A list of words and phrases not to be uttered in the executive branch’s communications has already been published. Are book burnings next?

We are all witness to the accelerating destruction of American life as we know it. The stock market — always averse to unmoderated risk — is in the loo, sinking day after day. Trump yaks on about cutting taxes while simultaneously imposing or pausing tariffs which are regressive taxes. Trump won’t rule out a recession. Indeed, he is hell-bent on causing one.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are leaderless. Schumer is beyond over. To whom is he speaking? Pelosi is now a back-bencher, Biden has disappeared, the Obamas are busy making money, Clinton is mum. Hakeem Jeffries is simply not the fiery opponent the moment needs. Congressional Republicans have bent the knee to Trump lest they  be “primaried”.

Trumpocrats aren’t throwing bodies out of helicopters yet -- as far as we know. And Trump has not ruled out remaining as president-for-life, a la Putin.

The Trusk portmanteau is the government.
