CATERING TO THE PRESIDENT

On Aug. 10th to get him out of Turkey safely, the Secret Service put Trump in a large catering container and swapped out planes. ... The problem is they let him out.
In responding adroitly to a possibly credible threat from Iran, the SS did exactly what they are there for: to protect the President and his family, their sacred mission.
The Cabinet Secretaries and the media contingent, on what turned out to be a decoy aircraft from which Herr Trump was evacuated, were basically pawns on their own. They were not told about and knew nothing about the ploy. An order to keep the window shades down on departure, according to NY Times photographer Doug Mills, masked Trump’s exit from a side exit to the container waiting below the stairs; alas, it was not carrying Big Macs and fries. Or turkeys. Or reporters. It was quick and quiet.
This is a one-hand-or-the other quandary. Our SS (not the other one which is making a right-wing comeback in Europe) begs the ethical question of abandoning even the most despised senior level toadies to their fates. Though you may not be losing any sleep over that, the media— well, the Times — is mightily annoyed at being snookered, hornswoggled, played. The SS huggermugger was cleverly devised on short notice. Herr T. was only briefly indisposed per above. No one got hurt. Iran still holds Hormuz; gas is again over $4.00, inflation is still on the rise; Trump’s approval ratings remain in the basement of a two-story outhouse. The stock market is still narrow and oversold and you can’t find a gold-plated catering container anywhere!
